If you are adding to your house, converting a garage, building an ADU or replacing an HVAC system, your building department will likely require an energy compliance report before issuing the permit.
What it actually is
A calculation showing your project meets California's energy efficiency standards for your specific climate zone. It is produced from your plans and submitted with the permit application.
What we need from you
Plans if you have them. For small projects, a dimensioned sketch showing room sizes and window sizes is often enough to start.
What it costs
From $175 for an ADU, $195 for an addition or alteration, $225 for a typical single-family project. Fixed price, agreed before we start.
How long it takes
Same-day reports are available. Tell us your permit deadline when you send the plans and we will work backwards from it.
The part people miss
Some projects also require field testing during construction, by a certified ECC-Rater. We tell you up front whether yours does, so it is not a surprise at final inspection.
